My Design Journey: UX Redesigning
Over the course of this semester, I have observed the websites of UX designers, learned the principles and psychology behind user-centered design, and collaborated with my classmates to create a prototype for a real-world client. Coming into this class, I had very limited exposure to the foundations of user experience, but I did have some experience in visual design and client interaction, both skills that came in handy as the final redesign project progressed.
Through my coursework this year, I have brainstormed, wireframed, prototyped, and critiqued with my peers in order to improve upon my designs for our client here at UCCS. These experiences, combined with the content I consumed while completing my assignments, have altered the way that I approach my design process from conception to finish. Not only did I grow to value well-thought criticism, but I also learned how to cherry-pick ideas that would be most productive given the audiences I was meant to consider and improve upon them until I had a substantial prototype to present come finals season.
This website is the accumulation of all of the steps of this journey I've completed in regard to our Program Finder Tool redesign project. I invite you to take a tour through the ups and downs of our design process to discover, as we did, what ideas to cultivate and which to leave behind when designing this tool for our client.
