Client Interview

When given the opportunity to interview our client, Olivia, my group focused on a handful of questions that we wanted to ask in order to get a better understanding of her own wants as well as our audience's needs.

Some of the questions we asked were:
  • Are there any specific design elements that have been identified as problematic?
  • What are the biggest challenges/pain points prospective students face when approaching UCCS?
  • What brand guidelines should we adhere to?
  • Are there specific programs that UCCS wants to highlight to attract prospective students?

Through these questions, as well as the questions provided by other groups in our class, we determined a few key elements to keep in mind as we proceeded with our designs for this project:
  • The client wants a cohesive look and feel for the program page/finder tool
  • The goal for the program pages was to inform prospective students about what UCCS has to offer
  • The client wishes to display all information in a dynamic and accessible fashion
  • The end goal for the project was to merge the program finder tool with the existing content pages
  • The program finder tool is to be a one-stop-shop for new students to search for degrees
  • The primary users are between 18-20, while secondary users are likely 21+

With these considerations in mind, we were urged to think outside of what already exists so that we could create a new and engaging program page and finder tool that fit both the client's needs as well as the audience's.
