Persona and Audience

Given the audience data given to us by our client, our group created a persona for a random user that might be interested in using our program finder tool. Here is that persona.

Name: Sofia Cartwright
Age: 23
Race: Hispanic
Income: ~$25,000
Occupation: Barista

Sofia currently attends a local community college while working part-time at a coffee shop. She wants a clear list of bachelor's degrees that could match her interests, as well as easy access to program and admissions details such as tuition, financial aid, curriculum, and career paths.

Her frustrations include crowded webpages, worries about student debt, and unclear website navigation.

From this persona, we developed a set of three tasks that our user would likely wish to accomplish while using either the programs page or the program finder tool through the UCCS website. These tasks are:
  • Searching for a degree, major, or minor
  • Finding required classes for a program
  • Accessing financial aid information

These three user tasks and this persona would be the benchmark we used throughout the semester to ensure that our designs were on the right track with what our audience and client would both desire.
